What is R.E.V.E.L?
R.E.V.E.L is an Environmental Support Fund that contributes to social and environmental projects that help transpose earth space that perhaps wasn’t aforethought, into beneficial green space.
How is R.E.V.E.L funded?
R.E.V.E.L is funded by proceeds from Looming Hope, fundraising events and private donations from people like you.
Is R.E.V.E.L a non-profit 501(c)(3)?
No. R.E.V.E.L is not a non-profit in the sense of a government entity that is tax-exempt. However, we don’t think this is a bad thing at all. We have set R.E.V.E.L up in a way that we don’t have to pay startup costs or yearly operation fees to run it. Also, all those who work for R.E.V.E.L are volunteers, thereby ensuring that all the money in this fund goes directly to the projects we want it to go to rather than to the filing fees or paid board members.
How is it determined what environmental projects get funding from R.E.V.E.L?
For the time being, the distribution of R.E.V.E.L funds will be decided by the members of Looming Hope. In the future, as the funds and projects become larger, we intend to set up an impartial board to decide where the funds go and how much will be given to each project.
What sort of projects does R.E.V.E.L do or intend to do?
While no projects are in the works yet, we hope to use this fund to turn underutilized space like rooftops and parks into beneficial green space. We plan to fund rooftop garden conversions and clean-up projects around Boston and hopefully eventually across the country.
What can I do to help?
There’s a lot you can do to help. By supporting Looming Hope, you’re helping to fund R.E.V.E.L. However, if you want to donate directly to the R.E.V.E.L fund, you can donate on the home page. Also, we’re going to be looking for volunteers soon to help with local clean-ups around Boston. We’ll have more information coming soon on loominghope.com and revelearth.com!
